This writer is Rodney Kinskey soon to be 82 years of age on January 7, 2008, so I will write in the first person. I have had a full life with many, to me, interesting and valuable experiences. Recently, I reread "The Lessons of History" by Will and Ariel Durant and it concludes with the following sentence: "If a man is fortunate he will, before he dies, gather up as much as he can of his civilized heritage and transmit it to his children. And to his final breath he will be grateful for this inexhaustible legacy, knowing that it is our nourishing mother and our lasting life".
With that sort of encouragement, I toyed with writing a short autobiography, but after several false starts came to the conclusion that I did not have the skills required. Instead I am opting to do something much easier for me and much more enjoyable, and that is to write a series of anecdotes. My son John has encouraged me in this effort. He flatters me that I am a good story teller and that my children and grandchildren love to hear about how things were "in the old days", and especially the details of, Rod and Jeanne's lives and families, and the interesting characters that appear in many of these stories. He also is mentoring me in the blog process. I ask everyone to be patient and understanding of my future faux pas.
These stories will be randomly selected, composed at wee hours in the morning, or on airplanes, and irregular intervals, and wholly dependant on not being crowded out by my other activities and duties. Hopefully, I can make them interesting and not boring, realizing what is interesting to me, and also to my audience, may not be the easiest congruence to achieve.
This is Saturday and I must go work out now. Please tell me what you think of this proposal and give me any suggestions of things you would like to hear about. I need lots of strokes and encouragement in this project.

Love the blog idea grandpa! History is always fascinating, but never so much as when it is personal. Family is invaluable and it is important to know the stories and people who make my family what it is today, I cannot wait to read your blog as it progresses!
Grandpa, this is AWESOME! More!
I don't really know what I could do to help, but let me know if I can.............
If you have no objections, I'll have a link to your blog posted on Kinskey.com.
Sound good?
